if I were to have a wedge bent two degrees strong from 51 to 49 degrees, would it change any other characteristics like the bounce? if so will it a)matter and b)can that also be adjusted? thank you
If you bend an iron or wedge 2 degrees strong, you will reduce the sole angle (bounce) by 2 degrees. It can matter, depending on the type of turf you play on, the type of sand you play out of and your own attack angle. Generally, reducing the bounce reduces the playability for most players because it makes the sole more likely to dig. That being said, if your starting with a sole angle of 6 degrees or more, reducing the bounce by 2 degrees will probably not matter much. If your starting with 4 (or less) and taking it to 2 (or less), it could have more of a negative impact. If you are a really good player, or play on tight/firm turf, you can get by with less bounce, especially on a lower lofted wedge that you intend to hit mostly 3/4 to full shots with.
As far as changing the bounce after the club is bent, it can be done in some cases by regrinding the sole, but that involves removing weight and the finish. How much really depends on the shape and width of the sole you are starting with. If too much weight is removed in the process of reshaping the sole, it can be a negative. You can add some of it back using lead tape on other parts of the head, but it all depends on how much is lost. You could weld weight back on, but that is really not practical. By the time the head is ground, new material welded on, the head ground again to smooth out the weld and it is refinished, you could probably by two new wedges for what it would cost. As far as the finish, if the wedge is a chrome finish, you would have to have it re-chromed or it will rust.

thank you, the set I have is 2010 taylormade tour preferred cb irons, it is the 51 degree gap wedge I am looking to bend. I have been able to find the specs for these irons through TM but they did not list the bounce specs with the rest, any thoughts/
