I am a relatively new golfer and came across the Maltby line recently. I have purchased the Max wedge 54 and 60 as well as a 3 wood.

i am now looking to invest in an iron set and not sure what to choose. I currently use very old Cobra Kings found at Goodwill with an MPF of 253. I’m a high handicap golfer and just shot 98 for the first time. I am fairly athletic mid 30s and have a baseball background. I am torn between the KE4 Max, STI2 and TS3 Forged as these are the ones I have seen the most reviews on. I am looking for something fairly forgiving to grow my game on.

Any recommendations on the nuances and what may fit my game more? Or what to look at to better make the decision?

You picked the three models I would recommend looking at. The Max will be the most forgiving (Ultra Game Improvement) and have the strongest lofts. The STi2 has been a best seller for us and is priced the best. We are changing it slightly for next year, but the design is staying the same, just some cosmetic changes. TS3 is what we would consider a progressive players cavity design and is a true forged Super Game Improvement design. Being true forged carbon steel with tungsten with internal tungsten weighting, it is the most expensive. If you don’t have a preference over what you like a club to look like and want the most forgiving, the Max would be the choice. The other two are little more conventional in their profiles, and are both still very forgiving, so those could work too. You really can’t make a bad choice. I would encourage you to try just a #6 or #7 iron first, then if you like it, order the remainder of the set. That way if you don’t like the first choice, you haven’t invested that much.
