I’ve been contemplating a full set of Maltbys for awhile now. I recently swapped out my 4 and 5 iron of my Rogue ST pros for the KE4 Max and am really liking them. They are a little more chunky than I’m use to but, I hit them well, so thats all the matters when it comes to long irons.

But as far as the rest of the set, what Maltby iron is the most similar to the Rogue St Pros? I’ve been looking through the GW magazine, going online, watching reviews, and as they all look different, and have different specs, the description for them all are very similar in performance. Any insight?

I was thinking about doing a combo set of TS3 for my 6,7 iron. And maybe the TS1IM for 8,9,PW. But just wanted a little more real world info before I pull the trigger.

First, we don’t identify any of our product as “similar to” another companies product. The Rogue ST Pro irons from 2022 were a hollow body construction, so that construction would be more similar to our TS1-IM. We have our Playability data base that has all (mostly all) the models from the major companies and you can look at the numbers and compare the playability. The Rogue ST Pro is a good iron and in the Super Game Improvement category. Our TS3, TS4, TS1-IM are all in the same category. The TS3 would be slightly more forgiving and the others are all very close to the same SGI number. When clubs are within 50-100 points in the MPF, it is difficult for most players to tell any difference.

If you’re going to do a combo set just pay attention to the lofts. You want to be sure you have the proper progression of lofts. The TS3 to TS1-IM you mentioned would work fine with their standard lofts. They have different constructions, so the feel may be slightly different, but also might not. Everyone feels things differently. Both are great designs. The MAX irons are our most forgiving and have a larger profile.

Thank you. After writing this post I looked into the MPF ratings and that is an amazing way to look at irons! So I started doing that and i think I’m going to do a set of TS3 in long irons, and the TS1 IM in short irons.
