Hi there,
I’ve been playing the new STi2 Gen2 5–P set, and I have to say—they’re unbelievable. The feel, sound, and look are all excellent. I’ve even managed to shave two strokes off my handicap thanks to how forgiving they are, without being as bulky as something like the KE4 Max i’ve built.
Now I’m starting to think about my next set of forged irons. I was initially leaning toward the TS3s, but the TS4s are just so beautiful. Based on the MPF ratings, they actually seem to be more forgiving than the STi2s, which is surprising considering they’re muscle-back-style heads. I understand the logic behind the MPF numbers, and it makes sense on paper—but I’m still having trouble wrapping my head around it in practice.
I’m hitting the STi2s really well, and it’s giving me a bit of (maybe false) confidence. I know I could order a TS4 7-iron to test, but I can’t help wondering—am I getting ahead of myself? Also, the long irons as forgiving as Sti2s?
Would love to hear your thoughts.
Thank you!

I don’t consider myself a good ball
Striker when it comes to irons but the TS4 are solid, even for me.
I’ve got test clubs in just about every Maltby iron head. I’ve hit both the TS4 and the Sti2 and for me the TS4 is noticeably better. The way the TS4 is designed the miss hits out on the toe are just about as long as center strikes. It doesn’t dig either like some would think a traditional blade would.
This is not your traditional unforgiving blade design.
I meant TS4 as forgiving as Sti2, only 20 MPF difference.
