My swing speed is about 85 mph and usually have a high ball flight. I would like to lower the ball flight. What shaft would be the optimum one for me? I am 72 years old. On a solid strike the ball will carry about 195 yards.
Generally, the most effective way to lower ball flight is by reducing loft. It is much easier by reducing the loft. If that is not an option, going with a stiffer overall shaft and/or stiffer tip shaft might help. The trade off might be a little loss of feel and possible a little loss of carry distance. Options you might want to consider would be the Paderson TS-D2 driver shaft in an R flex, the Aldila Next Gen NV Green in the 55 R flex, or the Grafalloy Prolite in the R flex. The Grafalloy Prolite is definitely the stiffest tip of the three. The Aldila NV is the lightest of the three, and that might be the first choice giving you the combination of lighter weight and a low to mid trajectory profile. Hope this helps.
