Hello,

I am a newer to golf, high handicap, Tall golfer (6′ 6″) and I am looking to purchase a set of irons made to my specs (+1.5″). I have been working with a club fitter at my local Dick’s that has been through your training. We have settled on a shaft but I have a question about 2 iron heads that have the weight changing option.

I have the option at this point to get into a set of KE4 Tour+ heads or KE4 Max. I am curious on what the major differences are between those models. I am looking for a set that I can use to develop a more consistent swing before I move to something geared toward a more advanced player (and focus on some lessons with the money saved).

Any thoughts?

the KE4 Tour + are discontinued and basically gone. Don’t think we have a complete set remaining. KE4 MAX are awesome and our best Ultra Game Improvement option. We do have a KE4 Forged coming in the late summer or fall and it will be in the Super Game Improvement Category. It will be more like the KE4 Tour+, but with modern stronger lofts. Not sure you can wait for that one, but we are excited about it.

I would not hesitate to recommend the MAX for where your game is now. I think it would serve you well as you develop. And don’t think, as yo develop, it still wouldn’t be a great club to play. I have fit many players, from low handicap to high, with it and they love the feel and forgiveness. It’s not just for high handicap players. It’s a stable, modern iron that performs really well.

Britt, As always, thanks for the input. I did write to Quinn in Customer Service about a set of the Tour + heads that is listed on the site. He confirmed there are some sets left. It is 4-GW. Since they are clearance, I was just curious how similar these are to the KE4 Max since the clearance price makes it more appealing. Thanks.
I guess I forgot we put some of the remaining heads into sets and there are still a few remaining. Sorry about that. The KE4 Tour+ and the Max are both Ultra Game Improvement Clubs. the Max is rated slightly higher on the MPF, but probably not enough that would be noticeable from a forgiveness standpoint. the Max has modern stronger lofts, if that matters. I think the sole radius is better on the Max, making it a little better in turf forgiveness. Kind of comes down to the lofts and the look, more than anything else. Either would be a great choice and extremely playable, stable and forgiving.
