Is is possible to adjust the loft of a driver without impacting the face angle? I would like to turn down my driver loft but not effect the neutral face angle I currently play with.

Not really. On adjustable drivers a change in one will affect the other. That being said what is important is the effective loft at impact. Also, important to realize that if you close a driver face angle, the loft has to increase from that point assuming a square loft angle at impact. If you open a face angle, the loft is less at impact, assuming a square face at impact. There may be some drivers out there that claim you can change the loft without changing the face angle, but not when you measure them in a gauge with the sole on the ground.
I advise players to not worry too much about the readings, or even the look at address if they can get past what the face angle looks like at address. Sometimes that is easier said than done. Instead, go by the launch and ball flight. That is what matters. Set the driver where you get the best launch and spin for your swing.

I understand. I would just set it to what you like to look at and test, see what the numbers and ball flight tell you. If you can’t get the look and the ball flight to match what you’re looking for, without having to manipulate something in your swing, then you might try another shaft before doing a while new driver. Never change your swing to fit a club.

Thank Britt. Tough to look at a closed clubface and swing normally. I keep trying to hold it off which of course leads to inconsistent results. Trying to reduce spin, so maybe I am better off increasing AoA or going down the rabbit hole of trying different shafts. I am trying to avoid getting fitted into a new driver/shaft combo for $900!
