Joined the Maltby club last year when I bought the TS4 4-GW and can say they are my favorite irons ever. Now looking to add two of the new DRT wedges to replace my 56° and 60° Kirkland wedges. I’m fairly uneducated about bounce and grinds so looking for recommendation on which to get.

If it helps, I’m a high single digit handicapper. Typically my 56° is the do-it-all wedge from <80yrd in. Will do full shot, pitch, chips, out of the bunker, and like to open the club face when needed. My 60° really mostly used when extra height or stopping power is needed.

Which two DRT wedges would pair best following the TS4 50° GW? (Currently thinking either 54/58, 55/60 by bending a 54 or 56, or possibly even a 56/62 combo. Completely unsure about grinds though)

Really depends on your attack angle and the kind of turf and sand you play in the most. The S grind is the one most better players would play if they like to manipulate the face, have neutral to shallow attack angles and/or play mostly neutral to firmer turf conditions. The A grind is an all purpose grind that I think will work for most players in all conditions. Better players could still manipulate the blade some, but not as much as the S grind. “A” grind good in really all turf conditions, but might be a little more difficult to use on extremely firm turf. I used them both in Ohio last year. There was time when the turf was a little firmer and I used the S grind. When we finally came out of the drought in Ohio last year and the courses plushed up, I used the A grind and had really liked them. I have a neutral to steep attack angle (occasionally) and if I had to pick just one, probably the A, but I really liked the S as well. Fortunately, I don’t have to pick just one (Ha). I am a big believer in certain types of wedges for certain types of conditions. Not trying to tell you you need both, but simply that you should analyze what conditions you play in most, and your attack angle, and go from there.
