I recently ordered Tour set epoxy, I have previously used standard high strength epoxy with absolutely no failures. But the hybrid I just built failed with one swing and when I examined the tip the epoxy after more than 24 hours was still unset almost like it was when I applied it. Any thoughts?!!!!
I’ve used the Tour set on more than one occasion within 90 minutes. I do so much testing that I’m often crushed for time and will hurry to the range or Simulator.
Any failures have been on me by not cleaning a new head or adapter before assembly. But never an immediate failure.
I always leave the extra mixed epoxy on the bench and will give it the fingernail test to see how well it cured.
I also squeeze out the black part first as it’s thicker. Then use the clear as it will flatten out very quickly making it tough to judge two equal puddles.
We use the Tour Set every day in our production and we have not seen any problems. Without having it here to test there is no way of knowing why it failed. I can tell you that 99.9% of all epoxy failures we see come from either it not being mixed properly, the hosel not being cleaned and allowed to dry properly or not enough epoxy being used. Did you keep the excess when you mixed it, assuming you mixed it on a piece of cardboard, a mixing board or something similar? We always recommend doing that so you can see if it sets up. Two part epoxies need to be mixed thoroughly before application. That being said, it could be something with epoxy, although we have not had any issues. We can send you a replacement if you would prefer. You would need to contact customer service and they can take care of it. If possible, I would like to get the cartridge you used (assuming it’s a cartridge) back so we can test. Customer Service can help you with that as well.

What’s your cleaning process? I always wipe with acetone (on new heads) then use the sanding mandrel after. I’m a believer in doing it in that order, acetone, can leave a film inside the hosel.
