Thank you Britt for your recent answer on the flex point. I have a theoretical question about changing the flex point. It seems that most driver shafts have about a 6 inch parallel section at the head end. If I were to cut off an inch at the tip end and add an inch at the grip end, would that lower the flex point resulting in a higher launch angle?
Cutting the tip end of the shaft generally makes the shaft stiffer, which does not produce a higher launch angle. Like I said in the previous discussion, flex point has a very minor affect on launch angle or trajectory. Overall flex has much more of an affect.
You could try what you described, and I understand what your thinking, but I doubt just changing the reference point will matter when the act of cutting the tip will stiffen that part of the shaft, and the overall profile stiffness.

Have read several articles, and heard more than one shaft expert state… that in ALL the shafts on the market today the actual Flex Point for ALL exist within 2.5” of the center of the shafts length! One of the biggest misconceptions in golf is all those people who think otherwise!
