I recently purchased and built a TS3 7i with a SteelFiber i95 shaft and absolutely loved it. Swing weight was a bit too light for my feel so I added some lead tape and dialed it in. I am blown away at just how consistent the club played and had less distance dispersion on striped shots.

With this comes the conundrum. I did the online fitting questionnaire and was suggested the TS4 irons. I know the TS4’s are not AS forgiving as the TS3’s, but I am curious by how much when compared to that of the 0317T? Did not see these irons on the MPF list, and how big of a difference is that near 100mpf difference between the TS3 and 4? I dont care to shape shots and just want the ball to go where I intend on shooting it without all that chunk and offset of standard super GI clubs.

Seriously excited to grab a set of either once the DBM heads are out. Thank you for any help I can get!

What swingweight did your TS3/steelfiber 95 end up at? STD length?

I’m in the TS4 and considering a lighter shaft, specifically the SF 95.

It started at C6 cut at standard length and with a Golf Pride James Bond grip at 65.5g. I feel that weight of the grip may have pushed the club to that C6 and would have been around C9/D0 with a more standardish 45g grip. Measured this SW using Golfworks V Line swingweight scale.

Not a lot of noticeable difference in 100 MPF points when you get to the Super Game Improvement and Ultra game Improvement categories. I don’t have the PGX 0317T’s to measure so I can’t comment on what the MPF might be. My guess is it would not be much different from the 0311T, but can’t know that for sure. I don’t think they would be as high as the TS3’s.

If you love the TS3 you have with the SteelFiber 95, go with that. No reason to second guess about the TS4. It’s awesome as well and I don’t want to discourage you from trying it, but if you know you like the TS3, that would be my recommendation. Or, if you feel you want to try the TS4, do the same thing, get a 7i with whatever shaft you want and try it to compare.

As far as swing weight, if we custom build we can target specific swing weights and usually get them right on, within reason. Or, lead tape works as well, just not a cosmetically acceptable to some.

Appreciate the feedback. Now that I have had some sleep and time to stew on this, I may just get a TS4 head and give it a whirl. Have a lot of buddies that are looking into new irons, so I may be able to showcase both heads and get them to follow suit

So I am coming from Gen 4 0311XP’s to the TS3’s and for me I truly hit better with the TS3’s. I feel like they are much more forgiving then the PXG XP’s which are their more forgiving style head. If you played the 317T’s I would think the TS3 and 4 would be better than those for forgiveness either way. To me at that point I would say which ever ones you feel look the best would be the way to go.

Thats great insight. I think you are spot on when it comes to the forgiveness aspect for sure. That and I am getting a bit more height and spin from the TS3, even at a slightly stronger loft. I feel this is more due to the shafts as my 0317T has the Modus 115 in stiff while the TS3 is a SteelFiber i95 in reg flex. I might get a TS4 head with a modus shaft to see how that pair works out as I really like the feel of those Modus shafts.
