Read somewhere on the Golfworks website Q&A that these aren’t USGA conforming. I can’t find anything on USGA.org that would qualify comment.

Reduced taper not wearing well
I have been using the Non-tapered grip for 2 years with great succes, until I was called out that they are not tournament legal…….
Am I missing something?
We don’t send grips we develop into the USGA for their “approval” because there is nothing about them that is remotely not conforming. Manufacturers are not required to send in grips. The rules are clear as to what a grip can be and as long as they are manufactured within those parameters, they are conforming. The person that stated they were not does not know what they are talking about. The grips do not have a bulge or waist and dimensionally grips do not have to have a taper, they can be straight.

Hi, I ran across that grip the other day and wondered the same question.
From the USGA Equipment Rules:
“4 B (iii) The grip may be tapered but must not have any bulge or waist. Its cross‑sectional dimensions measured in any direction must not exceed 1.75 inches (44.45 mm)”.
The phrase “ may be tapered” would seem to indicate that those straight grips are legal.
The reference may be a hangover to old rules?
