How many wedges do we need?
There’s an 8° gap between my 48 and 56.
Did I do something wrong, or this is how people play?
I can still make changes to it.
Let me know what you guys do. Thanks

Usually a 4 degree gap between irons so you’d want a 52, referred to as a gap wedge.
Thanks.
So it would be two gap wedges. Because the one I ordered is the 48° wedge with a G letter on it for gap wedge.
So for your wedges, you have a 44/48/52/56/60 ?
The five wedge system?
Thanks, yeah, that’s what I was thinking I need to do.
My pitching wedge is 45, then I have a 50 gap, 54 sand, and 58 lob. My distance gapping between wedges is good. Those clubs are shorter so they swing slower. 4 degrees difference is standard, but in the shorter clubs I’ve seen some folks fine with 5-6 degrees difference.
One other thing. You might hold off on the 60. I can’t play a 60 to save my life. I can play a 58 Max Milled fine. Two degrees doesn’t seem like much, but it’s huge to me for some reason.
Duffer and Britt are both spot on.
When buying a set that inclues PW,GW look at the loft of the GW as an example the STi2 GW is 48 so your next numerical wedge you would want to space them by 4 so you would need a 52 and space it again a 56.
You could always get a 60 though it can be frustrating to play, if you have two extra wedges outside of the GW you can get more of a feel for them but trying to perfect three can be a bit distracting in the long run.
I am looking at picking up the new STi2 4-PW,GW and then new Maltby 52 and 56 wedges.
Yeah but a 4 degree gap between wedges is too narrow, as the shaft length is mostly the same.
My 9 iron is 43, so i have 3 specialty wedges, same length at 47,53,59
That means I cover 9 iron to LW with one less club than every one else, on some cases 2 less clubs.
Now i can have an extra head cover at the top of the bag
I recently ordered the ke4 max set and initially got a 56 glider as my sand wedge. I recently got a 60 max milled as my 14th club and really like it but I now I want to move to a 54 degree sand wedge or maybe a 50 degree gap. I can get by for now with 1/2 and 3/4 swings with the gap but I think the 54 would make things easier on me.
I’m probably going to hold off for now though and wait for the 2025 wedges to be revealed.
