Let’s use a 355 tip Aerotech as an example. 95g stiff vs 95g regular. Why would you soft step the stiff vs hard stepping the regular?

Apologies for he delay. No reason one way or the other. I suppose, depending on the variance in the specs, a hard stepped R might feel softer than a soft stepped S, but that can vary from shaft to shaft. On the Aerotech 95, they have similar torsional stiffness and weights, so the difference in the R and S can only be achieved through profile and geometry differences. the math tells us that if you put a 7 gram lighter head on a shaft, like a 6 iron head on a shaft intended for a 7 iron, the shaft will play approximately 3.5 cycles stiffer, and visa versa on a heavier head on a shaft meant for a lighter head. So really can’t tell you what the difference would be on the Aerotech. Not much I would guess.
