I want to replace the insert of my Taylormade Ghost Spider putter. What is the best method of removing the insert. I am also going to custom paint the putter head as well. How can I remove the bottom plate without damaging it?
Our suggestion is to not try. We have done it before, but it is difficult and the insert can shrink, or deform. Getting the bottom plate off is not easy either. We have removed the insert and bottom plate before for the purpose of refinishing, but it is difficult even for our guys who have a lot of experience. Less than 50% success rate without some problem.
