How could one be certain if a Swingweight scale is correct without a calibration stick.
I understand we could compare results with another scale, but if they were different, how would we know which one is wrong…. both could be wrong.
Is using the math formulas, several of which are online reasonably accurate, assuming ones measuring skills are precise?
P.s. i dont have a scale.
I guess you can’t truly know unless you have a calibration club or stick from the manufacturer of the machine. If comparable scales are made correctly with the fulcrum length and weight, etc. being proper, then they should read the same. We can recalibrate any of our machines and actually have a Golf Mechanix calibration stick that works for swing weight scales. Interesting that we have our SWRM scales in all of our shops and have used them for years and I can’t remember when we ever had to re-calibrate. It’s rock solid and unless you drop it on the floor or something like that, it shouldn’t need to be re-calibrated.

One can manually find the balance point on a fulcrum, measure the distance from the grip (butt) end to the balance point, then weigh the club on a gram scale. Use the formula Mass x (Bp-14) in grams and inches to find the lorythmic value and look up the swingweight on a chart. Number is as accurate as your measurements, if you do it correctly, you can be within 2/10 of one SW point.
Thanks! I guess on one hand it doesnt matter, as long as all the measuring is just done on one machine, including the target number one wants to get to.
