I’m reshafting an Adams a120S #2 Hybrid. The tip size is .370. For a shaft I bought a Graftech Lite but I had to buy the iron shaft to get the correct tip size. My question is about trimming the new shaft. Should I use a wood trim code for a hybrid, even though it’s an iron shaft? Or, since this shaft is butt trim only, just trim it to the stock length of 40.75″?
The Graftech Lite iron shaft is not butt trim only. It is a combination flex .370 parallel tip shaft. Using it for a hybrid is no problem, but the tip trim should be based on the head weight, primarily. If the head weight of the hybrid the same as a standard #3 iron (239-240 grams), for example, trim the shaft the same as the #3 iron. If the head weight is 246-247 grams (our standard #4 iron range), trim as if it was a 4 iron. This is how it would play most true to flex. You can trim it any way you want, but understand if you trim less, it will pay softer, more and it will play more firm. Head weight of the hybrid should be your guide.

Thanks Britt. I understand that it’s a combination shaft, but what confused me are the words on the trim sheet “butt trim only” across the top, but I can see now that it applies to IR1 and W1 only. Because it was at the top of the sheet I misread it as if all they all were. Thanks also for the tip on the head weight.
