I am looking for some information and suggestions. I can’t decide between the TS-1s or the PTM irons.
I’ve played the TS-1 for a year, and during that time I have also owned two sets of PTMs.
My observations are that the PTMs are a terrific head. Very playable and also forgiving. The TS-1s are not as soft feeling (by design), but are designed for the player who likes the look of a blade while still providing modern tech in a head.
What are you looking for in an iron? If your game and eye prefer the blade like designs, TS-1 is as good as you will find. If you are looking for a nice forgiving forged head that doesn’t look like a shovel, the PTM will do it. I did not find significant distance differences in the heads, maybe the TS-1 are a 1/2 club longer in the long irons, but not enough to make a difference in the final decision.
For me, I’ve played the smaller blades forever, so the TS-1 just looks right and works a bit better for me. But I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending the PTM as well.
I would also agree with this well written post. DBM heads are butter as well, however, 2* less loft.
I have friends blind hit my Maltby irons, good vibes, and folks like them. I can play any iron I want, I play DBM and TE Forged with TS1 3 iron. Play awesome
Enjoy
Thank you for your perspective. Very much appreciated.
