This past spring I had GolfWorks replate a set of Titleist 690MB’s (circa 2010). The chrome, however, doesn’t seem to be as durable as a set of Callaway X-Forged I’ve played for the previous 5 years. The chrome on the 690’s is already showing more wear in 4 months than the Callaways.
Is the plating process for new clubs superior, or different, than plating an older set? Would you explain the differences, if any, in plating a new vs. replating an old forging?

I am confident that the re-chroming process we use is as good as any factory finish, better than some. After stripping old chrome and repairing, the head goes through a cleaning process, then is nickel plated than then chrome plated. We have used the same process for many years. If you think the re-plating we have done is not holding up, I would ask that you return it for us to examine. There are rare incidents where, for some reason, the chrome may not adhere properly, or may crack, but again it is very rare.
