Sorry, I did not give you enough info. I use a Golfworks swing weight scale.

Grip is 50g, shaft 70g before cutting (graphite shaft Mitsubishi MMT70I), no tip weight, assembled length for 6 IST hybrid(29*) is 39″.

I am getting a swing weight of E with the installed 8g weight. D6 weight without the 8g weight, consistent with subtracting 8g.

Also, 5 hybrid IST (26*), 39.5″ assembled length, 50g grip, 70g shaft, no tip weight added. Getting D9 with installed 8g weight. D5 without weight. Again, consistent with -8g.

These are the MMT iron shafts. I followed Ralph & JimY’s recommendation to tip iron shafts for hybrids, to the closet matching iron head weight. In this case, tip trimmed the shafts for a 6 & 5 iron.

Did I miss something?

With all the information you gave, when I plug it in to a swing weight calculator, both come out to D5.1 with the 8 gram weight installed. No idea how you’re getting the E and D9 readings. What swing weight scale do you have? I guess it’s possible that it is out of calibration, but that happens rarely.

Apologies, but can’t explain how your getting those readings with those components at the lengths your listing.
