I did the online fitting on GolfWorks’s site. They recommended these irons for me. I haven’t played regularly in 10 plus years but have gone out a couple times this year. I am looking to start playing more often and would like a little input. My currents irons are 20 years old, Cleveland TA5 gun metal. Along with Cobra ss 427 driver about the same age. I am wondering if I need to get a few lessons and see an actual fitter to get a truly accurate fitting vs the online one? I am almost 50 I can hit the Cleveland 7 iron about 145-150. Are the KE4 max with reg flex shafts a decent choice for someone with an 18-20 handicap? Are fitters willing to do a fitting someone that will buy from another source?

I would think the recommendation you got would work very well for you. Traditionally fitters push what they stock in their store. So the fitter may not be so receptive if you mentions maltby or golfworks clubs.

I’m sure some lessons could help but do your homework on who you get your lessons from. Don’t just go to a pro and hope they can help you. They should be able to have the technology to see face angle, swing path, and ground force.
