Thoughts on the ke4 tc driver and fairway woods. How forgiving are they for a older beginner.
Thoughts on the ke4 tc driver and fairway woods. How forgiving are they for a older beginner.
I’ll try not to drag this out. First off I started playing Maltby clubs in 2018 when I purchased a set of TE forged. I was blown away at the forgiveness and started looking into Maltby’s other offerings. Eventually I was top to bottom Maltby. My game has been steadily improving. This years bag consisted of the TE forged 4-GW, tsw 56 and 60, ke4 tc pro ist 22 hybrid, ke4 tour tc 4 wood, and most notably the ke4 tc max driver. I got down to a .6 handicap this year and shot several rounds under par in league and that was due to my driving. I’ve been a “self fitter” for the last 6 years and I settled on the MPF DR Stiff tipped 1/2” for the driver. My game speed is about 118-122. I’ve tried other shafts that I am “supposed” to fit in but the MPF has performed and felt far better than anything else.
So here it is: I went to a local bigger box store last week to hit the latest big brand drivers to see how they stacked up. I haven’t hit oem on launch monitors since my college years (I’m 33) so I was curious if the marketing and tech like 10k moi was real. I hit everything. I told the guy to give me whatever he thought would work for me. From qi10 max, g430 max, cobras LS, paradigm triple diamond and the max, gt2, all with upgraded shafts like Ventus. After 1.5 hours averaging 121 SS and 170 mid to high ball speed and about a 20 yard left to right dispersion and about 15 yard short to long dispersion (275-290) I went out to the car and grabbed the Maltby. It outperformed everything……… averages were 121 SS, 180 low BS, 6 launch, 2700 spin and tightest dispersion with the most consistent flight, 292 carry. I’ll never go back to oem……. And I mean it…… I launch it low and play it at 11 degrees. I actually asked customer service if they could hand sort and find me a 12 degree head I know specs from foundry are supposed to be +- 1 degree but I’m hopeful. I’m about to build a set of te4+ 4-GW and the new fairway. Hope that helps. I’m Maltby through and through (except my Cleveland HB 10.5 putter……..)
Greatly appreciate you sharing your experience, and supporting the Maltby brand. It’s great to hear someone actually experience the performance compared to the other brands. We test against all of them when we develop our product, so we already know that they can and do perform as well or better if fit properly for the player (and even if they aren’t fit properly, Ha). We know what translates into performance when it comes to design and no product will be released unless it meets the standard we intended for that product. Because we don’t market like the other brands, we rely on personal experiences and word of mouth to spread the good news about our clubs. So, again, than you for sharing and let us know how the new sticks work. I guess we need to work on getting you a putter so your complete Maltby :) .
