I have a 60 degree Maltby M Series 1.25 UC sole wedge. Is it legal under USGA rules? It isn’t listed at all, pro or con, on the USGA list. I am playing in the PGA Player Ability Test and don’t want to get disqualified. Thanks.
If the wedge you have is the 1.25 sole that we came out with back in 2010, we did not submit it to the USGA. It was designed to conform, but at that time we did not submit that particular model. All of our current wedges are on the list and are “conforming”. Again, it was designed with specifications and grooves that were conforming, but it was not sent to the USGA.

In hindsight I will order the Maltby M-Series+ 60 degree Wedge with the 1.20 sole (the orange one). That should work equally well. The P.A.T. is Monday so I guess I will use the Edel.
If I had read the page and a half of text at the beginning of the club checking USGA database here: https://www.usga.org/content/usga/home-page/rules-hub/grooves/informational-club-database.html, I would have known that a club doesn’t have to be in the database to still be within the rules in a tournament. The 2 sentence paragraph says, “Unlike the list of Conforming Driver heads, the Database is to be used for reference purposes only. The Database is not to be used in any manner stipulating that clubs must be included in the Database in order to be carried when the Condition is in effect.” (The “Condition” is that the committee requires conformance of all clubs to post 2010 groove requirements.) Amateurs can otherwise use pre-2010 clubs within the rules until 2024. I could have used the 60 degree Maltby M Series 1.25 UC sole wedge without an issue in the PGA P.A.T. since Maltby clubs have always been made to conform with the rules and that model is a 2012 model. I replaced it with another Maltby wedge which works equally well so things are OK anyway – just my unnecessary club work concern due to me not reading the introduction to the USGA Informational Club Database. I was in too much of a hurry.
Thanks for the info Britt. I expected that was the case. I knew that all Golfworks clubs are designed to be conforming. Heck, Ralph’s books are used in PGA classes. I am now wondering what I should do. I have an Edel wedge that is also 60 degree and their maximum bounce, but it tends to hang up in rough around the greens a little more than the 1.25 wedge (which works EXTREMELY well). I don’t know if I can submit my specific head to the USGA or if that would be extremely expensive. It works so well that I prefer to use nothing else. Nuts.
