I’m looking to upgrade from an old TopFlite starter set I’ve been gaming since I started playing golf 4 years ago. Want to upgrade to something nicer and have been eyeing the TS3 and TS1-IM’s (leaning TS3) for a few months now. Was originally just planning to order a Pak but decided I didn’t want to just wing it so I went and got a fitting done.
I was able to get some valuable info on what I should be playing: + 1/2″ shaft length/+ 2 degrees upright/ Midsize grip along with what shaft stiffness/weight worked for me. Tried a bunch of different shafts but ultimately got put into Project X 6.0 as the best option for me with the KBS $-Taper coming in second, both being 120g. Problem is both of these are rather unaffordable for me so I was looking for some budget options. Came across the FST shaft options and was wondering if these would be a viable option for me?
I included some graphics below from my fitting in-case it would be of any help. *Small note the Cobra Forge Tec is actually the Forge Tec X(data sheet was missing the X in title) which is a stronger lofted/lower AVCOG version of the the regular Forge Tec model. I liked hitting the Cobra FTX(KBS $-Taper) setup a bit more but my dispersion was better with the Mizuno(Poject X 6.0) setup, both felt nice to hit however and better then what I’m currently playing. I can also provide a link to the entire Trackman datasheet if that would be of any assistance.
Thanks for getting back to me Britt, much appreciated. I’ve also heard the FST Pro 125 can play about a full flex lower then the Project X /$-Taper. So perhaps going Stiff+ or X-Flex on the FST Pro seems like it might be the way to go to match the others?
For discussions sake I was wondering how pricing works if one decides to substitute a shaft from the Pak (Score LT – $12.99) into something else like the Project X $(46.99). Do you guys just charge the difference? Even though I’m looking to be budget oriented as possible the one thing that is a bit worrisome is it appears that the 7 iron at my playing length (+0.5inch) would come in at around 106g (I just got this figure from the Golfworks site >Ask a question). This is a pretty decent difference from the 120g I was fitting into. I’m pretty new to all this stuff but is there anyway to balance this out to get that heavier feel back, like lets say with adjusting swing weights?
