I’m looking at building a new set of irons and I’m looking at the TS1s. However, the TS3 seems to stack up similarly to the TS1 from a MPF measurement perspective with the TS3 measuring as a little more forgiving in most areas. I’m guessing the TS3 is maybe a slightly larger head that is more of a TE/DBM replacement? I know the construction between the two is very different. I’m just curious if anyone at Golfworks has any insights on if they TS1 will look and play similarly or be significantly different. I’m trying to determine if it would be worth waiting on the TS3. My current MMB 17s are still working nicely, I just want something that looks a little better at address. Thanks for any insights!

The TS3 is a progressive cavity design and has a little wider sole than the TS1. The sole of the TS3 also has more front to back radius. Bounce is the same through the 7 (3 deg.), with the 8, 9 having 4 deg. and the P, G having 5 deg. The profile of the TS3 is a little different. Heel height is a little lower and toe height is a little higher than the MMB-17. Heel height a little lower than the TS1 as well, but toe heights similar. TS3 has a thicker topline than the TS1 for sure, and a little thicker than the MMB-17. I still call the TS3 a players cavity design, but it does have a different look than the TS1 or the MMB-17. Playability is in the high 700’s (786) vs. the 711 to 714 on the TS1 and MMB-17 respectively. That is not much and all three fall into the Super Game Improvement category, but the TS3 should be slightly more forgiving. Testing n the TS3 has been great. the TS1 continues to be a best seller with great reviews and support. It mostly comes down to the look and the slight difference in playability. To me they both look great at address. A little different from each other, but both great (in my biased opinion). You may just have to order one of each 7 iron head for instance, and compare, once we have the TS3’s. Once you decide you can send the other back. We do not have a firm date on the TS3 yet, but it is in production. The good thing is I do not believe you can make a bad decision on this one.

Just a thought on the idea of ordering one club, such as a 7 iron, from each of several offerings, and then returning those that are unwanted. You might be able to save some grief by merely publishing the specs for the entire set somewhere on the Golfworks website. We get only loft, bounce, and offset, but many other specs are important and one can extrapolate if the numbers were published. For me, sole width through the set would be important. Others might have some other criteria, such as the position of the sweet spot. (Your efforts to get this close to the center of the face throughout your lineup, for example, are much appreciated.)

We do list a lot of specs on the heads. We don’t list the sole widths of every club in the set. Never been asked to before. I don’t see adding that information to the website charts, but I can measure and post on any particular set. Can’t promise how quickly I can get it done, but I can do it if you need it.

Britt you say you dont, but iust checked a couple on random and the last one i checked the TS1 shows the sole width of .755 are you sure you dont do it with every club set cause i see it all the time
