Britt,

Comments in another forum said GW tested the M890 shaft vs the autoflex. The two shafts profiled identical.

Is there something going on with the M890 shaft we might be overlooking? I have an older PING I25 Driver that I like to stick different shafts in as my tester club to see if I can beat the performance of the custom fit PING 425. Sometimes the cheaper shafts surprise me. Now I am intrigued to try the M890.

Can you shed some light on the design of the M890 and what you find in your testing please?

The M890 is simply a product we developed a while ago and continue to use. Designed to be a flexible, lightweight value priced option for the category of player that can benefit from it’s characteristics. Was the L-Tech build before and we tweaked only slightly and developed the R flex addition when we came out with the M890 branding. The Autoflex comparison came from someone asking and we researched what Autoflex were saying about their design. We were able to get an Autoflex shaft and ran the basic profile and found it very similar to the M890. I do not know the materials the Autoflex is made from or the manufacturing process they use, but just based on our simplified testing, they seemed similar. We did not hit test compare.

All I can say is the M890 has performed really well for us and who it’s designed for and more people should probably look at it as an option if they are in that category, in my opinion.

Hi Britt, are you saying that it’s the M890 R flex that compares with the Autoflex shaft? I’m actually looking for that type of shaft, I use a 40gram Ladies flex shaft trying to get the best overall results and got this info on another blog. Appreciate your feedback, cheers Colin..
