Has or will Maltby Golf ever have a set of Hybrid clubs from the top end of the bag to bottom like 3i – Pw, Gw? I attended the school back in 2000 and at that time Hybrids were not really a thing. I think at that time Spaulding was the only company to have ever made a hybrid set which I have 1i – 9i, Pw, Sw, Lw. I’m not interested in like a mix and match set, I’m talking like Cleveland HB Turbos or Cobra T Rail sets with the same look throughout the set. I have had some medical issues (complete shoulder reversal and kidney transplant) and I’ve lost some swing speed and distance. I currently play the Cleveland HB Turbos, but I used to play the old Golfworks GSD Irons from 2000 and I also used to play the Maltby Logic M-04’s and the Maltby Peak Velocity woods and Fairway woods which I still have along with my Maltby Staff Bags. If you did can you advise me of the models. If you didn’t, can you make a recommendation on Maltby Hybrids that you sell now and an iron to match up with the hybrids you sell now? Also shafts for m6 project. I’m 5’ 11”, 260 .lb, my swing speed for 7 iron according to a launch monitor is 75 – 80, distance is 155 yards standard across the board on length and lie.

We have done them in the past. The AST Hybrid, the RDM and the Hybrid ST come to mind, but it’s been a while. We hae not plans at the moment to do a complete set of hybrids like what you describe. Although I think there is a place, for sets like that, they have never sold that well. I think with the development of more and more hybrids, most companies will recommend using more hybrids or high lofted fairways in combination with Ultra Game Improvement or Super Game Improvement irons. This basically is the new “hybrid’ set, in my opinion. The reality is that it’s not about whether the clubs in the sets are “hybrids”, it’s about how stable and forgiving they are based on their mass and dimensional characteristics. it just so happens that many modern hybrid designs have lower and more rearward cg’s, wider soles, and lower profiles and those features make them easier to hit for a lot of people.

I think our new KE4 TC Pro IST Hybrids in the 3,4,5, combined with the KE4 Max irons in the 7 thru GW would be a great set up. Yu don’t need the #6 iron since the loft progressions of the hybrids mirror the 4,5,6 irons, so you replace those irons with the TC Pro IST hybrids. Also, the KE4 Tour TC hybrids in the 4,5 combined with the TS3 irons in the 6 thru GW produces a good loft progression. Neither of these are exactly what it sounds like your looking for, but that is what we currently have. the Pro IST hybrids and the Max irons would be the most forgiving.

As far as shafts, I like the Rapport product we developed with VA composites. I think, based on your club head speed and distance, the R flex would be the way to go. I also like the UST Recoil product and the SteelFiber product. There are multiple weight options in both and you you should consider a weight that allows you to maintain the feel you prefer. Possibly look at 70-85 gram weights, but not knowing what weight shafts you have been playing or prefer, that is just a guess.
