As far as the manufacturing processes, we know from the start what the processes and materials are gong to be. We know, for instance, when we are doing a new driver that it will be either investment cast, forged, or have parts that are both. We will know the material of the body and the face, and all the other parts of the head. In irons, we will know from the concept whether or not it will be true forged, form forged, investment cast, etc. and what material(s) we will use. You really have to know from the beginning to be able to accurately model the mass and dimensional characteristics and how those characteristics and the materials will affect the cg location. The materials chosen usually dictate the processes that will be used as well.
