Me and my brother were talking about the size of blades in particular muscle back blades and if it’s possible to make a midsize two a large blade basically longer from Heel To Toe keeping the Top Line relatively thin higher Square toe or rounded whatever your fancy, to me confidence comes from not just a thicker timeline but a longer blade length as well why hasn’t the golf industry done a style of head like that yet or would it present a problem in design
I designed the original MMB (Maltby Muscle Back) in 2007 and it was a longer blade, non-cavity iron. The muscle was what I call a reverse muscle in that it did not protrude out of the back of the iron but was slightly concave. It was modified in 2011, shortening the blade length only a few thousandths of an inch, and tungsten was added in the toe of the long irons to improve cg position. In 2013 we modifies again by adding the multi-groove technology, more grooves on the face. That model is still in the line. It is as playable a “blade” as you can play. It is in the Super Game Improvement category of the MPF with 714 points. So, to answer your question, the type of design you describe has been done. Maybe time to look into doing another one.

Britt,, If you do an update to the MMB please add the newer sole design you have on the TS series with the V type sole. To me that would make the MMB flawless.
