Sorry to Britt and all the designers but I’m thinking of taking to my new drt a grind wedge with a grinder…
Coming from a tsw, I really liked the “c” type grind they have which allows plenty of freedom to open the face and get inventive. The drt a grind doesn’t have this rear relief so when you open the face it raises the front edge (you know what happens next…)
The drt does have a front relief cut into the leading edge which helps with digging on square face shots, but you don’t realise how often you manipulate the face until you can’t do it any more! After a few thins and then a loss of confidence bringing in the fats, the tsw is going back in the bag for now.
Should I wait for the drt S grinds to arrive? They look like they have the whole trailing edge relieved (like the rocker type sole on the cleveland wedges) but not the heel and toe areas like the tsw does.
My other thought is to cut a c grind into the drt to make it look like a tsw but with a better leading edge.
Anyone done custom grinding like this or any reasons not to try?
It’s a dbm finish so also wondering what it will look like ground?
