Hi Britt,
MPF is based on dimensional and mass properties of iron heads. Does this change on an assembled iron?
Thanks

No. MPF is based on just what you said, the mass and dimensional characteristics of the head. Important to understand the the head is acting on it’s own mass and dimensional characteristics at impact. It is a free wheeling object. I know that is a difficult concept to understand, but it’s factual that a shaft stores energy and then prior to impact the shaft load is released, and through the release cycle the head is operating on it’s own mass and dimensional characteristics. That is why the MPF is such a great tool to help us understand why certain heads perform better, or worse, than others, especially on off center hits. Ralph wrote about this idea and realization of the head being a free wheeling object at impact, and so did Conchran and Stobbs years ago in the book they wrote “In Search for the Perfect Swing” (Chapter 22 and page 205).
So, MPF is about the head, nothing else.
