The first number in the code is related to clubhead speed or what club you hit from 150 yards. The second question does take into consideration the weight of the shaft, but also other factors, when asking the player what is most important to them, Distance, Accuracy or Both. The third is related to the trajectory (high, mid, low). The last question is kind of self explanatory, asking what the player needs help with in regards to direction control. This MPF selector is really more of an eliminator than a selector, as it is designed to narrow down the choices of shafts. From the result, the player can research options by weight, price, brand, etc. to further narrow down the selection.
As far as yo not getting a result, sometimes based on what you enter, there may not be any shafts with that code. An example would be if you have a high club head speed, but still want to hit it farther, want to hit it higher and need help correcting a hook (5D3H). That’s kind of an obvious example, but there can be others. What I tell most players is that if there is not a shaft that comes up after their first pass, first neutralize the distance question (choose both) and if that doesn’t get you some options, then neutralize the correction factor (choose none). One or both of those adjustments will usually do it. Doing this does not minimize the usefulness of the MPF shaft selector because it still puts you into the recommended flex category and trajectory category, which are tow of the key elements most players are trying to dial in. We take a lot of measurements on shafts and their profiles and believe this tool is as simple as we can make it to narrow down choices. The link below is to a page that has spreadsheets (or PDF’s) at the bottom with all the shafts we carry and all of their specifications. It is a great source to go to, once you have a general shaft MPF number, so you can look at all the shafts with that number and compare specifications, pricing, etc.

Hello Britt,
thanks a lot for your comment !
I still have some questions tough.
In your example, you say :
“An example would be if you have a high club head speed, but still want to hit it farther, want to hit it higher and need help correcting a hook (5D3H).
An example would be if you have a high club head speed, but still want to hit it farther, want to hit it higher and need help correcting a hook (5D3H).”
5 : the higher number, the faster the club head speed (I got this one!)
D : the player still needs distance (long drive guy here)
3 : you say it helps correct a hook. But it’s for high, mid or low right ? 1 for low, 2 for medium, 3 for high
H : last letter is for common miss : H for Hook, S for slice, M for no correction.
Am I correct ?
The chart is amazing, and I really appreciate that you answer to almost everyone and still deliver some great products. Congratulations to you and your team.
By the way, is there a chance the next MMB (or blades related) will be available in DBM finish ?
I wish I could buy the MMB Black, they are pure beauty.
