Hey there! I played the Nippon 105 (stiff) in my TM Sim Max irons, and loved that shaft a lot – it’s one that gets recommended to me by both fitters and the Shaft Optimizer that Mizuno uses. I’ve had great success (cue Borat impression in 3, 2, 1…) with the KBS Tour Lite (100g in stiff), and find them to be very comparable. I’ll also say that the new MPF+ graphite iron shafts, though significantly lighter (78g), play INCREDIBLY well – I’m coming from KBS Tour Lite to these, and I LOVE them.
Take a look at this chart (https://store-k9nvqai7wz.mybigcommerce.com/content/PDFs/Shaft_MPFs/MPF_ironshafts.pdf), and note the shaft profile for the Modus 105 Stiff’s (4B2H). Then you can search that code to give you a sense of similar shafts, and then start to compare pricing that way.
For what it’s worth, “4B2H” is my preferred profile, as well, and there are a lot of really, really good options.
KBS Tour Lite (both 100 and 105), Dynamic Gold 95/100, Project X IO (AWESOME shaft), Recoil Dart (105/90) (another REALLY good shaft), and the Score LT (cannot beat that price, lol, but the weight is 115, not 105, just as a heads-up), Dynamic Gold 95/100, etc.
I ended up with the new Maltby MPF+ because I wanted to go lighter and graphite, but also because the “4B2M” (mid flight) was better for me right now as I have a tendency to balloon the ball a tiny bit with my irons, so wanted a slightly more penetrating ball flight.
Hope that helps!
Thank you! Does the M and the H at the end stand for high or mid flight? I am a fellow balooner.
