Hello GW community,
I find myself trying to figure out how to remove the Paderson shaft from the golf head. Every time I do the graphite unravels. I’ve tried both heat gun and Butane. I also have tried twisting the head (not a good idea) and straight pull by hand and extractor. My findings is the heat swells the shaft tip causing this issue. The weave process then unravels
What I’m i missing?

We have removed the shafts successfully many times. What you describe indicates too much heat is being applied, too quickly. Highly recommend using a shaft puller that allows you to apply a load while your heating with a heat gun. Once the epoxy bond is broken, the head moves immediately. Heating in increments also helps – 60 seconds on, 30 seconds off, etc. Twisting never works. There is always risk and even when you do everything right sometimes you can’t achieve success. The resins used in the graphite shafts are not that much different in there heat resistance than the epoxy resins we use to shaft clubs. Still, I think with slower heating and being able to apply the load on the shaft while your heating would yield more success.
