back in the old days, there was a clear, high impact 2 part face repair epoxy. Any suggestions for a modern replacement? I have a nice set of vintage Hogan persimmons that need some wood face patching. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

The original 2 part clear epoxies that we use to sell and use for inserts and face repairs are gone and no longer being made. These days we get 3M epoxy from McMaster-Carr, https://www.mcmaster.com/# We use a 3M DP270 Potting Compound (code # 74678274) for face inserts and for face repairs in the toe and heel area we use the DP100 (code # 7467821). We do not sell these products you would have to order them from McMaster-Carr.
