I play the ping G5 irons from 2006. MPF around 805 but the MOI and c dim appears less than the most current offerings ie ping g 430/440/730, yet they have lower MPF. Wondering why that is. Thx again

Actual vertical cg’s are all higher, some significantly, and all the rearward cg’s are less on the 430, 440, 730. The G5 actual vertical cg and rearward are much better. The c-dim differences are not that great, and all are good enough to get high playability. The MOI has less of an affect in our formula. The 430, 440 and 730 do have higher MOI’s, but the positive that adds to the rating is not near as much as the negative affects of the higher actual vertical cg and shallower rearward cg have. Those two elements are really the reason the later models did not score quite as high. The 430 and the 440 are still both Super Game Improvement and we generally say it is really difficult to notice much difference in 100 points or less when you get to the higher playability categories. The G730 was the biggest surprise only being 555 points. Actual vertical of .881 is just too high and brings the playability rating down.

Thx for all of the info. Much appreciated
Thx for the info. Sounds like I can save my cash and just stick to what I have given ping seems to make some of the most forgiving clubs on the market. Unless there is something else out there you could suggest? I’m a 10 handicap but don’t have the time to practice like I want so just want to make the game as easy as possible with equipment. I’ve always struggled with iron play/ hit it on the toe and high on the face a lot. Any suggestion would be much appreciated. Thx again
