I need a new shaft for my Ping G410 five iron. I am having trouble finding one. The shaft I need is an ALTA CB stiff AWT. My question is can I use a 3 wood or hybrid shaft if I can’t find a iron shaft? Thank You.

Hi Britt , last year you advised that the KK 2nd Gen iron shaft was NOT counter balanced. There was an error in the Pak listing that called it HBP, which was corrected. Only the wood shaft is HBP.
In this post you indicated that the KK iron is counterbalanced. Please confirm one way or another. Thanks, and happy new year.
First, you can not use a wood shaft. Most modern or current woods are .335″ hosel. Most hybrids are .370″ and although most Ping irons use a .355″ taper tip shaft, we have found that a .370″ tip shaft will work in the G410. It’s like they have a universal hosel that will accept a .355″ or a .370″. The .370″ actually fits better on the G410 irons we have seen. The ALTA CB stiff AWT shaft is a proprietary shaft made for Ping. I believe the “CB” part of that tells us the shaft is a counter balanced shaft. If I am correct in that the shaft is graphite, the Mitsubishi Kuro Kage Black 2nd Gen (our code MR0046) is a counter balanced graphite ion shaft that might work if it matches the weight of the AWT. i don’t know the weight of the AWT but the Kuro Kage stiff is 75g. If that is not a good option for you, you may have to contact Ping to see if they have the AWT or can tell you a good replacement option.
