Steel wool will take some of the black off, and you can use some SIMI chrome polish. SIMI is the code on our website. We use to use a product called Blue Away, but it’s not produced anymore.

Thanks Britt. I’m refurbishing my 1964 8802 and replacing the broken head speed shaft. I removed one from 8813 but I’ve noticed the head is going to be very tight when inserting. Any suggestions. Thanks
I have little to no experience with older putters but I have heard of a “pencil shaft” on an old putter. Can’t remember what model but the tip was like a .292 tip?
I had an old TP Mills that had one and was gonna regrip it. The shaft was very small diameter in the butt end as well.
Sorry for the delay in responding. The 8802 and the 8813 should have had, at least originally, the same or very similar shafts. It was a flare tip shaft. Jim, our resident expert on such things, tells me that they had the same shaft and that our flare tip shaft will be the closest thing you will find that will work, if you needed a new shaft. Might need to be sure the inside of the shaft is clean and might have to sand the stub on the head slightly to make it fit the shaft you have.
