The PTM and the PTM Black are going to be discontinued. The intention with the model when we brought them out a couple of years ago is that they would replace the TE and DBM Black. The TE and DBM Black have continued to outsell the PTM 2 to 1, so we decided to keep the TE and DBM a little longer and let the PTM fade away. Performance wise, the PTM’s were great. If you wanted to play a more traditional looking (slightly larger profile) iron that had Super Game Improvement Playability, it was a great choice. I do believe the TS1 and the TS2, as Dave said, overshadowed the PTM a little along with the fact that the TE and DBM continue to be strong sellers.
We are working on a new forged iron. Will probably be mid next year. Won’t give details yet, but really excited about the shape and look we are working on.
Jim responded to the Q&A in the PTM web page. I think this was release was over-shadowed by the TS1/TS2. People seemed to have liked the head, but sales must not have been as good. I’m interested to see what the Golfworks comes out with this year as the MMB/PTM both going away leaves an opening for something new!
