krking – we must be twins, only our mothers could tell us apart.
I play DBM’s too, left the 8iron at 38, 9 iron bent to 43, chucked the W out, and the G is 50. Then I have the Max wedges at 53 and 58, So from 38 deg to 58 I have just 5 clubs – works for me
As the P and the G are practically the same head weight, thus shaft length is the same, it wasnt a big deal to chuck out the W. I wish i could find a way to get rid of another iron and have 5 degree loft gaps throughout the set, but cant find a way to make that work – one club would have to be bent too much. A few decades ago, 1/2 sets were common place, so why wouldnt a 3/4 set be a good idea.
*note: i originally bent the G to 48, but it went too far, so i went back to 50. 7 Deg might seem like a big gap, but its not, 9i goes about 117m and G about 104m. I do have MOI matching set, with 3/8 increments which means my Shortest irons are a bit longer relative to normal lengths, so thats what probably got too much out of my G
Next set of clubs I get, i will do the same again and not have a PW iron. just go straight from 9 to GW, and probably drop the 4 iron and weaken the 3 by 1 deg, and whack some lead tape on. I will figure something out that makes sense to me.
