All graphite composite shafts have extremely good vibration dampening, especially compared to steel. How much more the UST product has because of what they describe I don’t know and they will not disclose, but it must increase it by some or they wouldn’t claim it, or at lest I would hope they wouldn’t. Any type of composite and resin based shaft does not like heat. I do not think the UST is any more susceptible to damage than the rest of them. If you use the proper equipment and techniques, removing the Smacwrap should be no more of a challenge than any composite graphite shaft.
As far as loosing feel, you are the only one that can evaluate that aspect. It’s different for everyone. Personally, I have found that graphite does present a different feel than steel, even though we can usually match ball flight needs between a steel and graphite option. I think it is more of a dead or muted feel in irons, but that’s just me. I do use the Steel Fiber iron shaft in one of our FDI driving irons and the feel is fine. It does feel different than the S-Taper steel shafts in my other irons, but nothing that I think about. You’ll just have to evaluate. No doubt composite shafts dampen vibration more. That is why they are good for those that need that feature because of arthritis or other issues that can be negatively effected by the vibration created at impact.
