I tried to regrip installing a MCC4 plus midsize grip on a ping iron using 1 layer of 2” blue painter tape. Installed and could still twist grip, removed grip and used 2 layers blue tape. I could still twist grip, not as easy. In the end I used the old fashion method of double sided tape with grip solvent. My first time using air, I watched several videos and thought I knew how, just didn’t feel comfortable with the movement of the grip after installing. Anybody have success installling the midsize MCC4 plus grips.

Blue painter’s tape is designed to be easy to remove – not a good trait for grip tape. I blow grips on, but I use masking tape which adheres properly to the shaft. In addition, there is enough friction with the inside of the grip that it doesn’t slip, but the grip is easy to remove later with air if needed. In addition, masking tape is thinner than double-sided tape so I use two layers of tape to equal one layer of double-sided tape. I spiral wrap it – one is each direction (argyll!). I have never had it slip for anybody including very long hitters.

Another way is with rubber cement. To do it use the same masking tape, but use a stick to get the rubber cement inside the grip. Also coat the tape with rubber cement. You need to stand aside from the path of the rubber cement squirting out the hole in the butt of the grip when you slide it on. Once the rubber cement dries, any excess rubs right off of the shaft and the little bit on the end of the grip.
