I’m thinking of installing a super lite graphite shaft in my driver….perhaps a Fujikura XLR8. Since those shafts are very lite and have

very thin walls, are there any precautions I should take in installing a grip? I would hate to crack the shaft in a vice while trying to

install the grip….

You should take precautions. Basically you have to be very careful when the securing the shaft in whatever clamp or vise you are using when gripping a club with an ultra light shaft. In our academy when we address this we always tell the students that if you think you hear a “crack”, you did. All i can advise is to be careful and lightly tighten whatever clamping device you are using and be sure you the clamp or vise has a rubber shaft protector of some kind.
