I recently got an iron fitting, +1/2inch, 2 degrees upright. 7i speed was 79.5. Though my 7i usually is my 150 club, when i was fitted i was hitting it 160 plus when striking pure.

My fitter recommended stiff shaft, suggesting that as i loosen up during the season i will add a couple of MPH, and to help with a bit of a pull on my iron swing. My primary goal is to straighten out my swing, but would certainly benefit from an increase in yardage as well.

I’m 52 years old, and the Sti2’s i am about to order will be a long term set (possibly outliving me lol). Do you think based on the fact that i am borderline stiff right now, should I future proof these clubs by going to a regular, or am I giving away too much too soon by not sticking with the stiff as suggested?
