Since most shots with a wedge are not taken with full swings, is it ever recommended to use a softer flex in a wedges than is used in the irons?
I worked for Dave Pelz years ago and he always prescribed that generally the flex in wedges should be a little softer because of the very reason you mention. Most shots are not hit with full swings at full power. I happen to agree with Dave and have always done that myself. I have worked with several tour professionals through the years that did the same. Most of them would go about 1/2 flex softer in their scoring wedges (56 and 60 degree).
