Everyone is different. It depends on a lot of factors. Steel and graphite will definitely feel different. Different materials will feel different, no matter if they are the same weight. If you are looking for more distance, you may want to look at the benefits that graphite can give you. There is lightweight steel, but but you can get lighter in graphite. As woody mentioned, if you are looking at control and distance is not an issue, you might want to consider steel or a heavier graphite. Stronger players with faster tempos will usually go with slightly heavier shafts in fairway wood and hybrids. By heavier, I mean 85 + grams in graphite. In steel, you can use iron shafts as light as 95 grams. The only hybrid specific steel shaft is the KBS Hybrid and it is 100-110 grams, depending on the flex. You may have to experiment to find just the right combination of feel and performance.
