Hi

My 7i head snapped off and I am looking to replace my current irons with an STI2 pak. Curious for advice on what shaft to select.

currently have taylormade p790s with dynamic gold s300 105g shafts. I do not generate enough spin with these but do add loft at impact for a high launch. My descent angle is not high enough either.

My 7i goes about 150 but my driver club head speed is above 95mph.

Any advice between the score, mpf or kurogage shafts for the sti2 pak? The online fitting suggested score. I would like something stable but also know I’ll be working on technique and speed through the winter as well.

Quite a difference in Score, the MPF and the Kuro Kage. The Score is a great basic steel that will play true to flex once trimmed. The Dynamic Gold 105 is a low/mid trajectory shaft, but you mention that you add loft at impact and therefore hit it higher. The Score is a high trajectory shaft, so that might be something to take into consideration. The MPF graphite iron is listed as a mid/high trajectory, but it does play stiffer, so you might could still consider it. The Kuro Kage is a mid trajectory and might be the better choice in the graphite, and of the three you asked about. That being said, your going from a 105 gram low trajectory premium steel to a 75 gram mid trajectory graphite. There will be, or should be, a big difference in feel between what your playing now and the Kuro Kage, so just keep that in mind. I might suggest just getting the components and building a single #7 iron to test before committing to the entire set. I know it’s a little extra expense, but prevents the possibility of getting the PAK with the Kuro Kage custom built and then not liking it. Can’t return custom built clubs if you don’t like them. Just something to consider.

By adding loft I meant I have a bit of an early release that I’m working on. I did try some other graphite shafts at the local golf store and noticed my launch angle was lower with those and all felt great. Would that change your thought between the MPF and KK?

If I order the components, is it difficult to assemble the club myself? I can regrip no problem but the head/shaft attachment isn’t something I’ve tried.
