So i’m relatively new to club making, and am learning as i’m going. some things are pretty straight forward.. some not so much :)
what i’m struggling to figure out is I currently play Taylormade R7 TP irons and my 7 iron is set at D1 with a FST 115 shaft and Golfpride 2G midsize grip, I built a new 7 iron Maltby Forged TS-1 to see if I would like it. I built the new one using the same shaft/grip set up and shaft length. why is the swing weight off by so much (the new one comes in at D5+, almost D6)? based on the swing chart it looks like I would have to add 16-20g to the butt to make it a D1, but would you say that change is a “material change” to the overall static weight of the club, or is that normal to have to add that much.
