I am about to turn 74 and readily accept the fact that my swing speed has slowed and my distance with all clubs has diminished accordingly. I have been playing the TE irons with TT XP95 .355 tipped shafts. I love the look and the feel of these irons. I would like to increase my distance around 7-10 yards on each of my clubs. Thus my question. Will I notice a difference if I install an 8 iron shaft into a 9 iron, a 7 iron shaft onto an 8 iron and so on. Is there a difference in tip flexibility between all .355 tipped shafts?

I don’t think making that kind of change will yield the extra yardage you’re looking for. You might consider a different iron set that has stronger lofts, like the KE4 Tour+ or possibly the STi OS. You’ll definitely get more yardage with either set, especially the Tour+. When I made a similar change, I gained a full club.

Another possibility to add yardage is to go with graphite. The XP95 is an excellent shaft, but you can go even lighter with graphite and you’ll get more distance. My senior golfers love moving to graphite, and I think you will, too. This will be your best move if you don’t want to give up your TE’s. Plus, you can make the lofts a little stronger, about 1 degree in the 3-7, and 2 degrees in the 8-GW. You don’t want to go any stronger than that or you’ll eliminate the bounce. Hope this helps!
