Been doing alot of research and listening to alot of Podcasts and talked to a couple of Cobra golf reps about their new 3 D printed irons and wow it’s amazing with all the new technologies it’s really incredible what the 3 D world can open up far golf club design etc its pretty interesting!!! I know every thing new that comes out in Manufacturing is super expensive at first but just wanted to know what you all think about it? And will this be the new future in Golf club design opposed to Casting and forging?

It is interesting for sure. We haven’t researched it enough to know what might be possible, but the process is just in it’s infancy with regards to golf clubs I think. I have seen some putters done as well.

I have not hit, or tested the Cobras, so I can’t comment on what I think of the design or performance. If I get a chance to test and/or hit I can then give an opinion. Knowing Cobra (or any other major OEM), they would not have come out with them if they were not as good as conventional materials and methods of manufacture. Don’t see how they can better than a well designed forging or casting, but they might be as good. The manufacturing method might end up being the next way to go, but we will just have to see.

As we learn more or see more, maybe we can get a better idea o what the future holds for 3D manufacturing.
